Udaipur: The monthly meeting of the Lakecity Senior Citizens Club ‘Mewar’ was held at the farmhouse of Dr JP Sharma in Dhinkli village. Dr JP Sharma was the chief guest, while retired forest officer and environment and wildlife expert Dr Satish Sharma was the keynote speaker. Club president Laxmikant Joshi presided over the meeting.
Addressing the members, Dr Satish Sharma explained the intricate relationship between human life, wildlife and vegetation. He said every living organism and plant forms an important part of the ecological cycle and the survival of one is often linked to that of others.
He cautioned that the disappearance of even one important link in this natural chain could have far-reaching consequences for human life. His detailed presentation on the environment, wildlife and biodiversity was appreciated by the members.
Club patron KK Sharma, Premshankar Upadhyay, Rajendra Sanadhya, Om Nandwana, Yogendra Sharma, Krishnakant Sharma and Himmatlal Nagda shared their views during the meeting. Women members Vibha Sukhwal, Chanda Audichya and Kusum Sharma also participated in the programme.
The women members organised games, while the men added to the evening's ambience by singing evergreen old songs.
The programme was organised by Taruna Sharma. Six members whose birthdays fell during the period were felicitated with garlands and traditional upnaras. They were also blessed with a shower of flowers accompanied by the Gayatri Mantra, with members wishing them a long and healthy life.
The meeting was conducted by Dinesh Sukhwal, while Joshi proposed the vote of thanks. A fellowship meal was organised after the meeting, bringing the programme to a close.
