Udaipur,  Political activity intensified at the Udaipur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday as the nomination process for the post of Mayor got underway. Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s announcement of his name, Ward 24 councillor Paras Singhvi filed his nomination for the Mayor’s post.

Singhvi, who has been elected as a councillor for the fifth consecutive time, became emotional during the nomination process and embraced BJP City District President Gajpal Singh Rathore. Soon after news of his nomination spread, a large number of party workers reached the Municipal Corporation premises, with supporters lining up to congratulate him.

Expresses gratitude to BJP leadership

Speaking after filing his nomination, Singhvi expressed gratitude to the BJP’s senior leadership, including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, State President Madan Rathore, divisional in-charge Rajendra Singh Rathore, Nahar Singh Jodha, election in-charge Kanakmal Katara, MLAs Tarachand Jain and Phool Singh Meena, MP Dr Mannalal Rawat, Rajya Sabha MP Chunnilal Garasia and other senior leaders.

He also thanked party leaders and organisational figures including Gajpal Singh Rathore, Nanalal Vaya, Devilal Salvi and Pankaj Borana for placing their trust in him.

Singhvi said he had never imagined that he would reach such a position in politics. He described himself as an ordinary party worker who had been given the opportunity to contest for the fifth time and had now been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Municipal Corporation as Mayor.

“I will repay the party’s trust through development”

Singhvi said that the next five years would be dedicated to taking forward the party’s ideology and accelerating development in Udaipur.

“The party has given me the responsibility of five years, and I will try to repay this trust through development work. The organisation was, is and will remain supreme for me, and I will continue working to strengthen it throughout my life,” he said.

Lakes, roads and cleanliness among key priorities

Singhvi said the development and conservation of Udaipur’s lakes, improvement of roads and making the city cleaner would be among his key priorities.

He said his focus would be on accelerating ongoing development works and working towards making Udaipur a cleaner city.

BJP workers celebrate

BJP Divisional Media In-charge Chanchal Agrawal and City District Media In-charge Krishnakant Kumawat congratulated Singhvi and said that the BJP had formed its board in Udaipur for the seventh time, attributing the achievement to the party’s policies and the hard work of its workers.

The announcement of Singhvi’s name and his nomination brought a festive atmosphere among BJP workers and supporters gathered at the Municipal Corporation.
