Udaipur Diwali Fair Begins October 28; Palak Muchhal, Gaurav Gupta to Perform

UDAIPUR, Live music, devotional performances, comedy, a poets’ conference, shopping and amusement rides will make Udaipur Municipal Corporation’s Diwali Fair a major attraction for residents and visitors this festive season. Beginning on October 28, the 15-day fair will offer free entry, with seven consecutive evenings of cultural programmes at the Municipal Corporation premises. While the cultural events will run until November 3, shops and amusement rides will remain open until November 11. Rajasthan Tribal Area Development and Home Guards Minister Babulal Kharadi will inaugurate the fair at 7.30 pm on October 28. Mewar Mahamandaleshwar Rasbihari Sharan of Asthal Ashram will grace the occasion. Day-Wise Cultural Programme October 28: Devotional singers Anamika Amber and Chhotu Singh Rawna will open the cultural programme. October 29: Repriya Balam Band and Fakira Khan Folk Band will perform. October 30: Bollywood playback singer Palak Muchhal will present popular musical numbers. October 31: Local artists from Udaipur will showcase their talent. November 1: Stand-up comedian Gaurav Gupta will headline the fair’s first comedy night. November 2: Local performers will return to the stage. November 3: An all-India poets’ conference, supported by Bunder Cement, will feature Shailesh Lodha, Ajatshatru and other poets. Fair Revenue and Preparations Mayor Paras Singvi said the corporation expects revenue of ₹1,01,11,000 from shops and ₹85,11,000 from amusement rides. A total of 21 committees have been formed to coordinate the event. Parking Arrangements Visitors can park at the newly constructed Town Hall parking facility, Shramjeevi College and RCA Link Road. Arrangements have been made to facilitate convenient access and smooth traffic movement. Security and Visitor Facilities Police personnel, home guards, security guards and female security personnel will be deployed at the venue. CCTV cameras will monitor activities across the premises. A large stage, audience galleries, a VIP enclosure and dedicated media facilities have also been arranged. The corporation has provided for regular cleaning, waste bins and drinking water. An ambulance will remain stationed at the venue for emergencies, and entrance gates have been designed to allow fire engines to pass through when required. With free entry, live entertainment, food stalls, shopping outlets and amusement rides, the fair offers families and visitors multiple reasons to spend an evening enjoying the festive atmosphere in Udaipur.
