Udaipur: BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week commenced on Sunday with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation and healthy living, following directions from the state government.

The District Administration and District Environment Committee jointly organised a walkathon and cyclothon on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake near Devali Gate under the theme “Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle”. The initiative aimed to encourage citizens to adopt environmentally responsible habits and contribute towards nature conservation.

Students from various schools and colleges, along with sportspersons and other participants, took part enthusiastically in the event. The programme began with the Mission LiFE pledge, during which participants resolved to protect the environment and adopt healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

Devendra Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Conservator of Forests (North) and Member Secretary of the District Environment Committee, flagged off the walkathon and cyclothon. The rally proceeded towards Moti Magri Gate, where the activities concluded.

The initiative highlighted the importance of regular physical exercise, walking, cycling and other healthy lifestyle practices, particularly among young people.

Participants were also informed about the objectives of Mission LiFE, environment-friendly lifestyle choices, physical well-being and the importance of protecting nature.

A plantation drive was also organised at the Neemach Mata forest area, where saplings of various species, including Amaltas, Kachnar and Spathodea, were planted.

District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal, Assistant Conservator of Forests Rajendra Singh, Manish Meena, Regional Forest Officer Yashpal Singh and other officials and staff members were present.

BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week will continue until November 7. A series of theme-based activities will be organised throughout the seven-day campaign to raise public awareness about environmental conservation, responsible resource utilisation and the adoption of sustainable practices in everyday life.
