15-Day Foundation Course for MBBS Batch 2026 Concludes at RNT Medical College

Udaipur: The 15-day foundation course for newly admitted students of the MBBS Batch 2026 at Ravindra Nath Tagore (RNT) Medical College, Udaipur, concluded with a ceremony attended by senior IPS officer and Udaipur Superintendent of Police Dr Amrita Duhan as the chief guest.

The programme was conducted by Dr Pooja Dhabai, nodal officer for the foundation course. The 15-day programme was designed to prepare students mentally and practically for the MBBS curriculum while introducing them to the responsibilities and values of the medical profession.

During the course, experts conducted sessions on a wide range of subjects. Dr Gayatri Tiwari, Emeritus Professor, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, spoke on time management, stress management and interpersonal relationships.

Dr Amrita Bokariya, founder of AMB Consulting, conducted sessions on communication skills, critical thinking, decision-making, teamwork, leadership and the importance of positive thinking in medical care.

Senior theatre artist and noted mime performer Dr Vilas Jhanwe, along with Kiran Jhanwe of Martand Foundation, used theatrical performances to familiarise students with creative expression and sensitivity. Dr P.C. Jain, known as the Waterman of Udaipur, sensitised students towards water conservation, environmental protection and de-addiction.

Dr Narendra of Rajasthan Police and Constable Raju Khinchi, Yoga-Sports Coordinator, introduced students to various aspects of yoga and guided them through pranayama exercises. Faculty members also conducted sessions on basic life support, waste disposal, medical ethics, hand hygiene, first aid, organ and blood donation, and sports.

As part of the environmental conservation initiative, a plantation drive was organised on October 1, during which 67 saplings were planted on the college campus.

The concluding orientation programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and singing of Vande Mataram by chief guest Dr Amrita Duhan, RNT Medical College Principal and Controller Dr Rahul Jain, Additional Principal-I Dr Vijay Gupta, Additional Principal-III Dr Kirti and Academic In-charge Dr Meghshyam Sharma. The guests were welcomed with green saplings.

Addressing the students, Dr Amrita Duhan described the medical profession as one of the most sacred and responsible professions and urged the students to work with dedication, honesty and a spirit of service. She also advised them to stay away from intoxicants, drugs and negative influences.

The highlight of the ceremony was the White Coat Ceremony, during which all newly admitted students donned their white coats in the presence of Dr Duhan and took the Charak Oath, pledging to serve humanity. Dr Sushil Sahu spoke about the significance of the Charak Samhita and its relevance to medical education and ethics.

In his welcome address, Dr Rahul Jain said the education and training provided at RNT Medical College would play an important role in shaping the students’ future. He urged the students to listen to patients with sensitivity and stressed that a doctor should strive to become not only a competent medical professional but also a good human being.

Additional Principal-I Dr Vijay Gupta, Additional Principal-III Dr Kirti, Academic Officer Dr Meghshyam Sharma and UG In-charge Dr Shweta Biyani encouraged the students and wished them success in their academic and professional journey.

Foundation Course Committee member Dr Nirali Salgia sensitised the students about anti-ragging provisions and the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment.

Heads of departments and faculty members, including Dr Shweta Asthana, Dr Shuchi Goyal, Dr Renuka Paigwar, Dr Rajul Loda, Dr Parveen Ojha, Dr Sonika Chaudhary, Dr Urmila Chaudhary, Dr Harcharan, Dr Apoorva, Dr Jameel, Dr Sandhya Mishra, Dr Rekha Singhvi, Dr Jaiprakash, Dr Raghav Nepalia, Dr Hemant, Dr Vaibhav Bhatnagar, Dr Prashant and Dr Kiran, were present at the programme.
