Udaipur, The three-day national conference ‘Embryology ISAR 2026’ (PEARL — Progress in Embryology, Advances, Research and Learning), organised in Udaipur from September 18 to 20, concluded with experts deliberating on the latest research, technologies and treatment advances in IVF, infertility care and embryology.
Dr Manisha Vajpayee, national organising secretary of the conference and director of PMCH IVF, said more than 500 doctors, embryologists and fertility specialists from across India and abroad participated in the scientific meet organised by the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR).
The conference began with nine pre-conference workshops covering various aspects of embryology and reproductive medicine. Participants received practical training ranging from basic laboratory principles to advanced techniques, quality standards and the application of emerging technologies.
National and international experts shared their experiences on modern IVF techniques, embryo development and evolving approaches in assisted reproductive technology (ART). The conference also focused on strengthening coordination between clinicians and embryologists.
ISAR Embryology Committee chairman Dr Keshav Malhotra said the conference featured participation from ISAR president Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar, president-elect Dr Madhuri Patil of Pune, vice-president Dr Sujata Kar of Bhubaneswar, secretary Dr Ashish Kale, Dr Vincenzo Locaniani from Italy and Dr Men from Vietnam, among other international experts.
Dr Madhuri Patil, in her session on “One Size Fits None, Truly Personalised Stimulation in 2026”, highlighted the importance of tailoring ovarian stimulation protocols to individual patients. She said personalised treatment strategies and modern technologies could help improve IVF outcomes.
Dr Sujata Kar, while speaking on “The Endometrium and the Embryo, Synchrony or Selection?”, discussed the importance of synchronisation between the embryo and the uterine lining. She emphasised the role of endometrial receptivity and appropriate timing in successful embryo implantation.
Dr Hrishikesh Pai, founder president of ISAR Embryology, spoke about automated ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection). He said automation could help standardise sperm selection and micro-injection, improve technical consistency and reduce the scope for human error during the procedure.
‘Walk for Hope’ spreads message of fertility care, women’s health
As part of the conference, Pacific IVF Centre, ISAR and FOGSI jointly organised a ‘Walk for Hope’ walkathon to raise awareness about women’s health, preconception care, newborn health and the importance of protecting the girl child.
The 45-minute awareness walk, from Fatehsagar Pal to Rani Road, saw the participation of around 400 doctors, nursing staff and nursing students. The walkathon was flagged off by Dr Manisha Vajpayee, Dr Sanchita Dashora, head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at PMCH, members of the ISAR committee and other guests.
Dr Vajpayee said the initiative aimed to convey that preparation for healthy motherhood should begin before conception rather than after pregnancy occurs.
The awareness drive covered pre-pregnancy health assessment, nutrition, anaemia prevention, healthy weight, blood pressure and diabetes management, thyroid health, vaccination, infection prevention, mental health, safe pregnancy and newborn care.
Dr Dashora said the initiative aimed to promote awareness about preconception care, fertility care and the importance of saving and valuing the girl child. She stressed the need for appropriate medical counselling and health assessment before conception, alongside efforts to prevent female foeticide and promote the importance of daughters in society.
Dr Pradeep Bandwal, Dr Meenal Chugh, Dr Akanksha Tripathi, Dr Dimple, Dr Divya, Dr Smita, Dr Vandana and Dr Pooja Gandhi made significant contributions to the successful organisation of the conference at the local level.
