Udaipur: The two-day Inter-College Powerlifting and Weightlifting Championship at Pacific University commenced with enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The competition is being organised at Power Health Centre, Meera Park, Udaipur, with students from various colleges participating with great enthusiasm.
The event was attended by chief guests Dr. Hemraj Chaudhary, Secretary of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, and Kamlesh Sharma, President of the Rajasthan Weightlifting Association. Special guests included Alisha, an international powerlifting player associated with the Railway Sports Board; international Asian champion Divyansh Soni; and Commonwealth champion Meer Soni.
On the occasion, Dr. Neelam Yadav, Teerthpal Singh, Dr. Narendra Sharma, Chandresh Soni, Jai Singh and Girish Upadhyay from the PAHER University Sports Board welcomed the guests by presenting them with traditional turbans and uparna.
Organising Secretary Anukraman Singh said that 80 male and female powerlifters from the university participated in the powerlifting events on the first day. The athletes displayed impressive performances across various weight categories, showcasing their strength and sporting talent.
He added that the second day of the championship will feature the Weightlifting and Best Physique competitions, beginning at 10 am on October 1.
The guests interacted with the participating athletes and encouraged them. Speakers highlighted that sports play an important role in developing discipline, self-confidence, determination and physical fitness among students. They encouraged the participants to compete in the true spirit of sportsmanship and strive for excellence.
