Udaipur: From bird walks and night-time nature exploration to repair cafés and creative recycling, Udaipur is set to experience an immersive celebration of sustainability with the ‘Climate Chakravyuh Festival 2026’ on September 26 and 27.
Organised by Community The Youth Collective and Vartaliap, with support from Rainmatter Foundation, the two-day festival will centre around Vidya Bhawan, while activities will simultaneously take place at 13 other locations across the city. More than 1,000 participants have already registered free of cost for the festival.
According to Pratibha Pathak, the festival will feature more than 60 engaging activities designed to demonstrate practical and everyday ways of protecting the environment. Climate experts, young social entrepreneurs, artists and climate activists from across the country will interact with participants and share ideas and experiences.
The festival’s concept has been collectively developed by more than 150 young people, social entrepreneurs, artists and climate practitioners from across India, giving it a strong youth-led and community-driven character.
Inspired by the Chakravyuh from the Mahabharata, the festival seeks to highlight the interconnected nature of climate, social and economic challenges and encourage communities to explore collective solutions.
Among the key attractions will be Bird Walks, Night Nature Exploration, Barefoot Trail, Sounds of Nature and Aravalli Haat. Participants will also get an opportunity to learn traditional crafts such as making leaf plates and bowls (pattal-dona) and seed jewellery from local artisans.
The festival will also showcase the power of creativity and reuse through initiatives such as ‘Jugaad Garage’, where discarded bottles will be transformed into useful products, and a ‘Repair Café’, offering hands-on experiences in repairing old electronics, bicycles and clothes.
Participants will also get an opportunity to understand Udaipur’s waste-management and water-harvesting systems, connecting environmental awareness with the city’s own sustainability practices.
Festival curator Rajesh N. Singh Mehar said the evenings would bring together music, ecology and culture under the programme ‘Music, Ecology and Harmony’. The event will feature classical guitarist Raghvendra Kumar, folk artiste Ritesh Gohiya, poet-songwriter Kavish Seth and singer Salman Ilahi.
Adding an element of fun and competition, the festival will introduce a ‘Climate Passport’ gamified quest. Registered participants will earn Gold, Silver and Bronze stamps by completing different activities, with their scores displayed on a live leaderboard. The top 30 participants will be felicitated during the grand closing ceremony at Vidya Bhawan on September 27.
With its mix of nature, art, music, traditional knowledge, innovation and hands-on experiences, the Climate Chakravyuh Festival aims to turn climate conversations into meaningful community action while encouraging citizens—particularly young people—to become active participants in building a more sustainable future.
