Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital Spreads Breast Cancer Awareness Message; Doctors Wear Pink

Udaipur: Continuing its annual initiative, the Department of Oncology at Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital organised a special awareness programme as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Senior officials from Geetanjali University and Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital, along with the Head of the Department of Oncology, doctors and the entire departmental team, participated in the initiative to promote awareness about early detection, regular screening and timely treatment of breast cancer.

The highlight of the programme was the participation of doctors and healthcare professionals dressed in pink, the internationally recognised colour associated with breast cancer awareness. Through this initiative, the medical team encouraged women to prioritise their health and undergo appropriate screening for the early detection of breast cancer. The programme also emphasised that awareness, rather than fear or hesitation, and timely medical consultation are essential in addressing the disease.

During the programme, doctors highlighted that early diagnosis significantly improves the chances of successful breast cancer treatment. They advised women not to ignore symptoms such as a lump in the breast, changes in breast size or shape, unusual skin changes, or nipple discharge. Depending on age and individual risk factors, regular screening, mammography and clinical examinations can help detect the disease at an early stage.

The doctors also highlighted advancements in modern cancer care, explaining that several treatment options are now available, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy and other advanced treatment approaches. Appropriate treatment based on the stage and characteristics of the disease can help improve patient outcomes.

The Department of Oncology at Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital has been organising awareness activities annually to educate the public about breast cancer and encourage women to take proactive steps towards their health. Continuing this tradition, the department reiterated the importance of regular health check-ups and timely medical advice.

The programme concluded with a strong message that early detection, appropriate treatment and awareness are essential steps towards better breast health and improved outcomes for women affected by breast cancer.
