Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 2.0: Division-Level Workshop Organized

Udaipur:  A division-level workshop for the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign was held under the chairmanship of Joint Director Dr. Prakash Chandra Sharma, organized by the Medical Department. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Shankar H. Bamania reported that the workshop was attended by CMHOs and Deputy CMHOs from all districts of Udaipur and Banswara divisions, along with representatives from the Education and Police Departments, municipal corporations, BCMOs from all blocks, and other stakeholders. 

State representative Narendra Singh and Rajan Chaudhary from SRKPS NGO were also present. The Joint Director administered an oath, emphasizing the need for a complete ban on tobacco in public places to achieve a tobacco-free village and city, highlighting the expected cooperation from the police department and municipal corporation.

Narendra Singh provided insights into the program's objectives, stating that the main goal of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign is to raise awareness and encourage people to refrain from using tobacco products. Dr. Bamania mentioned that the 60-day campaign aims to educate the public and discussed taking action under the appropriate provisions of the COTPA Act. 

Salumber CMHO Dr. Bunkar also offered useful suggestions. Rajan Chaudhary from SRKPS NGO emphasized their primary objective of creating tobacco-free gram panchayats to protect the youth from the adverse effects of tobacco. Deputy CMHO Dr. Ankit Jain and NTPC Nodal Dr. Pranav Bhawsar also shared their thoughts. Deputy Director Dr. Pankaj Goud concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
