Innovation Set to Begin in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly

New Delhi: Vasudev Devnani, the Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, is set to initiate a tradition of holding an all-party meeting before the commencement of the legislative session, similar to the practice in the Parliament. This meeting is proposed to be held on December 18, a day before the assembly session begins. Devnani, who recently undertook his first official visit to the national capital after assuming the role of the Assembly Speaker, stated in a special interaction that starting the tradition of an all-party meeting would greatly aid in the functioning of the house.

Devnani shared that while the tradition of an all-party meeting exists in the Parliament, this will be the first time it will be introduced in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. He highlighted that a significant number of new legislators have been elected in the 16th Legislative Assembly, and they will be provided with a one-day training on January 16 to familiarize them with the rules, legislative procedures, questioning protocols, and speaking during zero hour, among other parliamentary proceedings. Similar training sessions will be organized periodically.

He emphasized his commitment to ensuring the smooth and orderly functioning of the house, seeking cooperation from legislators of all parties. Devnani expressed confidence that the positive and unanimous election process for the Assembly Speaker position and the warm reception upon assuming the position indicate that all party leaders expect the assembly to be conducted with mutual cooperation.

Devnani also mentioned that he plans to consult with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and leaders of opposition parties to organize more such meetings and introduce innovations in the legislative assembly. He concluded by stating that he is keen on working towards the progress of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly with the support of both ruling and opposition parties.

On Tuesday, Vasudev Devnani, the Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, during his visit to New Delhi, extended courtesy meetings with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav.
