ISKCON Kovil to Create History in Kartik Month

**Udaipur:** In an initiative to unite human society during the auspicious month of Kartik, ISKCON Kovil at the newly constructed Shri Shri Radha Govardhandhari temple on Nathdwara Road has resolved to make history. On Sunday, November 19, as part of the Annakoot Utsav, a commitment has been made to offer 100,008 bhogs to the deity, and all are invited to participate wholeheartedly.

Devotees can contribute by bringing offerings or making a donation towards the bhog. For those inclined towards the tradition of floral abhishek, they can also bring their own laddoos for their beloved Lord Gopal. The celebration includes cultural programs and traditional kirtans. A kirtan group from Mumbai will join the festivities, enhancing the glory of the event with the joy of chanting the holy names.

A special Panchamrit abhishek will be performed for the Govardhan Shila during the festival, adding to the sanctity and beauty of the occasion. Ensuring that the benefits of this grand festival reach everyone, Mahaprasad will be distributed to households as part of the Food for Life program in Udaipur city.

ISKCON Kovil urges the general public to actively participate in this celebration. Situated on Nathdwara Road, the newly constructed Shri Shri Radha Govardhandhari ISKCON Kovil temple is an expression of devotion to Lord Krishna and His divine pastimes.

The month of Kartik is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion by the devotees of Lord Krishna. It is considered the most sacred and prestigious month in the Hindu calendar. Any form of offering or devotion during this month, no matter how small, is believed to bring immense spiritual benefits to the practitioner.

One of the prominent festivals during Kartik is the Annakoot Utsav. This festival commemorates Lord Krishna's lifting of the Govardhan Parvat to protect the residents of Vrindavan from the wrath of Lord Indra. Devotees prepare various delicacies, creating a mountain of sweets and savories, symbolizing the Govardhan Parvat, which is then offered to Giriraj Govardhan as a form of gratitude. This offering, known as Annakoot, demonstrates the devotion and gratitude of the devotees. In Vedic culture, special worship of revered cows is also performed during this time.
