Udaipur: Vidya Bhawan Senior Secondary School delivered an impressive performance at the 70th District-Level Hockey Championship, winning district titles in five categories.
Held from September 23 to 26, the tournament saw Vidya Bhawan teams emerge victorious in the U-14 boys and girls, U-17 boys and girls, and U-19 boys categories. The school’s U-19 girls’ team secured the runners-up position.
Vidya Bhawan also put up a strong performance in the U-15 Nehru Cup Hockey Tournament, finishing first at the district level and securing fourth place at the state level.
A total of 108 hockey players from Vidya Bhawan School participated in various age categories this year. The participation of such a large number of players from a single school in one sport is a notable achievement and reflects the strong sporting culture developed at the institution.
The school has built a strong reputation in hockey over the past decade. Its players are regularly selected for state and national-level competitions in significant numbers. In recognition of its standing in hockey, Vidya Bhawan was also honoured last year with the opportunity to host the Hockey Junior World Cup Trophy.
At the closing ceremony, Rajendra Bhatt, CEO of Vidya Bhawan Society and former Divisional Commissioner and retired IAS officer, congratulated all the players on their outstanding performances. He encouraged the young athletes and shared details about the international sports academy being developed at Vidya Bhawan, which will provide world-class sports facilities and professional training to aspiring athletes.
School Principal Pushparaj Singh Ranawat also congratulated the winning players and hockey coach Shri Krishnakant Yadav, appreciating their sustained hard work, commitment and dedication to the sport.
