Udaipur: Under the guidance of Narayan Seva Sansthan President Prashant Agrawal, the ongoing ‘Apno Se Apni Baat’ discourse on Wednesday highlighted important life values through inspiring episodes associated with Lord Ganesha. Agrawal emphasized the importance of sacrifice, forgiveness, valuing time, and respecting and serving one’s parents.
Narrating the episode of Ravana receiving the Atma Linga from Lord Shiva, Prashant Agrawal explained that Ravana had been instructed not to place the Atma Linga on the ground during his journey. At dusk, Ravana requested a young boy to hold it for some time. Lord Ganesha, appearing in the form of the child, had made it clear that if the weight became too heavy, he would call Ravana three times and, if there was no response, place the Atma Linga on the ground. Ravana could not return in time, and the Atma Linga was placed on the ground.
Agrawal said the episode conveys an important lesson: even a brief lapse in time can lead to significant consequences. Therefore, time and circumstances should never be taken lightly in life.
Through the story associated with the Modak of Knowledge, he highlighted the importance of respecting and serving one’s parents. According to the episode, Goddess Parvati asked Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya to complete a journey to all the holy pilgrimage sites. While Kartikeya set out on the pilgrimage, Ganesha circumambulated his parents seven times and explained that parents represent the entire universe and all sacred places. Pleased with his understanding and devotion, he was blessed with the Modak of Knowledge.
Prashant Agrawal said that before seeking progress in life, it is essential to understand that true knowledge is not limited to books or journeys, but is also found in fulfilling one’s responsibilities and respecting relationships. The stories of Lord Ganesha, he said, teach that sacrifice elevates an individual, awareness of time opens the path to success, and serving one’s parents is among life’s greatest values.
During the discourse, Agrawal also interacted with persons with disabilities and shared information about the couples who will participate in the mass marriage ceremony scheduled for September 19 and 20.
