Chennai: Actress Rashmika Mandanna will be seen portraying the iconic singer and Bharat Ratna awardee M.S. Subbulakshmi in an upcoming prestigious pan-India biopic based on the legendary musician’s extraordinary life and legacy.
The much-anticipated biopic was officially launched by visionary producers Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vasu at the prestigious Music Academy in Chennai on Wednesday. The grand launch also marked the occasion of M.S. Subbulakshmi’s 110th birth anniversary.
Legendary actor and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan officially launched the project and gave the clap for the film’s first shot featuring Rashmika Mandanna. The event witnessed the presence of members of M.S. Subbulakshmi’s family, eminent Carnatic musicians and several prominent personalities from the Indian film industry.
Among those attending the launch were Suhasini, actor Sivakumar, filmmaker Mahendran, actor-director Samuthirakani, and producers Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Rajendran and K. Prasada. M.S. Subbulakshmi’s grandson Chandrasekar and his wife Mala were also present on the occasion, along with several distinguished guests from the worlds of cinema and classical music.
M.S. Subbulakshmi remains one of India’s most revered musical legends. Her divine voice captivated audiences across generations in India and around the world. Through her music, she transcended linguistic and cultural boundaries and established a timeless legacy in Indian classical music.
The film features Rashmika Mandanna in the role of M.S. Subbulakshmi, while acclaimed filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri is directing the project. Musical sensation Anirudh Ravichander is composing the soundtrack for the film.
