Sur Sangam Delegation Meets the Governor

New Delhi/Jaipur: A delegation from the Sur Sangam Institute paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Rajasthan, Haribhau Bagde, at Lok Bhavan in Jaipur. The delegation included Mukesh Agarwal (National General Secretary, Sur Sangam), Hemjit Maloo (Managing Director, Veena Music), and G.N. Bhatt (Honorary Advisor). The delegation invited Governor Bagde to the launch of the 'Swar Sarita' special tribute issue dedicated to 'Rajasthan Ratna' K.C. Maloo on September 30, and to the awards ceremony for the winners of Sur Sangam’s 37th National Talent Search Competition on October 2. Being organized as part of the institute's Golden Jubilee celebrations, this event is dedicated to one of the institute's founders, the renowned art connoisseur K.C. Maloo, who passed away prematurely on July 14.Mukesh Agarwal, National General Secretary of Sur Sangam, honored the Governor by draping a silk stole around his shoulders, while Hemjit Maloo, Managing Director of Veena Music, presented a memento and copies of the cultural magazine 'Swar Sarita'.They informed Governor Bagde that while there is currently a proliferation of music competitions on television, K.C. Maloo—one of the founders of Sur Sangam (established in 1977)—had initiated the effort to discover musical talent across the country fifty years ago. This initiative paved the way for nurturing talents like Shreya Ghoshal and Vakil Mohmmad, bringing them to the national stage.Similarly, the Veena Music Group, established in 1987, is currently in its fortieth year. Through this platform, the visionary K.C. Maloo brought international recognition and fame to Rajasthani music and hundreds of obscure artists; by providing them with a stage, he also secured sustainable means of livelihood for them.*Meeting with the Governor of Karnataka*The members of the delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot, at Lok Bhawan, Jaipur.
