Sri Ganganagar: In view of the rising number of cybercrime cases, Lions Club Sri Ganganagar Central City, in association with the Police Department, organised a cyber safety awareness programme to educate the public about online fraud and digital security.
Cyber experts and police officials briefed participants about various forms of cybercrime, including online fraud, fraudulent calls, suspicious links, OTP scams, banking fraud and social media-related crimes. They also explained precautionary measures that can help citizens protect themselves from cyber fraud.
Lions Club Sri Ganganagar Central City President Vishal Singla, Region Chairman Arun Lohia, Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Sharma, Cyber Crime Police Station SHO Anand Kumar, Treasurer Yojana Sheoran, Rajasthan Pensioners Association President Rajendra Sardiwal, Information Assistant Pradeep Kumar, Tapovan Pranyas President Mahesh Pediwal, Sunny Garg and former Region Chairman Vimal Bihani shared detailed information on cybercrime and ways to prevent it.
The speakers said that while technology has made life more convenient in the digital age, it has also brought new challenges in the form of cybercrime. They emphasised that many cyber offences can be prevented by exercising basic caution.
Participants were advised not to share OTPs, ATM PINs, passwords, banking details or other confidential information with unknown persons and to avoid clicking on suspicious links.
The speakers also advised that anyone falling victim to cyber fraud should not panic but immediately inform their bank and lodge a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930.
They stressed that cyber safety is not solely the responsibility of the police or any particular department. Every citizen must remain digitally aware and vigilant to ensure a safer online environment.
Among those present at the programme were Region Chairman Arun Lohia, President Vishal Singla, Secretary Shailendra Moyal, Ashwini Bihani, Sunil Sevta, Sunny Garg, Solar, Vimal Bihani and Sandeep Sethi, along with a large number of retired employees. Former Region Chairman Vimal Bihani conducted the programme.
As a gesture of appreciation, Lions Club Sri Ganganagar Central City presented mementoes to all the police officials who addressed the gathering.
