Udaipur . The district administration is on high alert to prevent child marriages. Teams from the administration, District Legal Services Authority, and Child Rights Department are closely monitoring any child marriage activities. In this regard, on Saturday, a team arrived in the Kheroda police station area after receiving information about a child marriage scheduled for April 26, and immediately intervened to prevent it.
Assistant Director of the Child Rights Department, K. K. Chandravanshi, stated that on April 19, a call was received on the Child Helpline number 1098 reporting a child marriage in the Kheroda police station area on April 26. Following this, Child Helpline District Coordinator Navneet Audichya was directed to form a team. The team, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Lakshman Lal from Kheroda Police Station, arrived at the minor’s home in Amarpura Khalsa.
During the inquiry, the minor’s family denied any such marriage, but based on the family’s circumstances and conversation, the team suspected a child marriage was planned. The family was then cautioned and instructed not to proceed with the marriage until the girl reached adulthood.
Chandravanshi further informed that the district is maintaining continuous surveillance to prevent child marriages. Any person or the affected minor can file a complaint via Child Helpline number 1098, with the assurance that the complainant's identity will remain confidential.
