Udaipur – A joint protest was organized today by the Udaipur Rural and Udaipur City District Congress Committees in front of the Income Tax Department office at Savina, Reti Stand, against what they called the misuse of power by the Modi-led Central Government. The protest was held in opposition to the ED chargesheets filed against UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and other senior Congress leaders.
Udaipur Rural Congress Spokesperson Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit said that the Modi government, blinded by political revenge, is misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to suppress the voice of the opposition. The move to file chargesheets against top Congress leadership is an attempt to weaken democracy and muzzle dissent.
Udaipur Rural Congress President Kachru Lal Chaudhary stated that the National Herald case is not just a legal battle but a direct attack on an ideology that never bowed to power. He emphasized that Rahul Gandhi is paying the price for fighting for the people, which is why BJP is targeting him with false cases. "This case shows that in today’s politics, speaking the truth makes you a target," he said. "Congress workers will resist such vengeful actions, and the people of India are standing with us in this fight."
Udaipur City Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore said that the Gandhi family, which has sacrificed their lives for the country, is now being falsely implicated. “The legacy of Nehru, the strength of Indira, and the sacrifice of Rajiv Gandhi are unforgettable,” he said. “The whole country stands with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in their struggle today. This is not a personal fight; it is about protecting India’s soul and democratic traditions.”
Rathore accused the BJP of using such tactics to distract the public from the real issues of unemployment and inflation.
Key Congress leaders who participated in the protest included:
