Renowned Rajasthani Authors from Udaipur, Asha and Shakuntala, to be Honored in Nagaur

Udaipur: Two prominent Rajasthani language authors from Udaipur, Asha Pandey Ojha ‘Asha’ and Shakuntala Paliwal, will be honored at an event in Deh, Nagaur. Asha Pandey Ojha ‘Asha’ will receive the ‘Pramila Devi Pandya Rajasthani Language Award’ for her poetry collection *Sabdaan Re Dhakai*, while Shakuntala Paliwal will be awarded the ‘Shimbhu Ram Dholya Rajasthani Story Award’ for her storybook *Kesar Ra Chhanta*. Both authors will be presented with a cash prize of ₹11,000 as part of the honor.

Announcing the 2025 Mayad Bhasha Rajasthani Awards, Pawan Pahadia of Deh stated that the awards are organized by Nem Prakashan, Deh (Nagaur), and have been ongoing for the past 15 years. This is the largest initiative in the state dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Rajasthani language. To date, 139 scholars of the Rajasthani language have been honored through this program.

This year, 31 books across various genres of Rajasthani literature have been selected for awards. Among them, senior Udaipur-based poet Asha Pandey Ojha ‘Asha’ will be recognized for her poetry collection *Sabdaan Re Dhakai*, and emerging storyteller Shakuntala Paliwal will be honored for her book *Kesar Ra Chhanta*.

The award ceremony will be held on April 20 in Deh, where both authors will receive ₹11,000 in cash, a shawl, and a memento. In total, 31 distinguished writers from across the state will be felicitated for their literary contributions.

It is noteworthy that Asha Pandey has published 11 books to date, while Shakuntala Paliwal has published three. Both authors have received several prestigious awards at the state and national levels.
