 Celebrations to Be Held Across Udaipur Suburban Areas for the First Time

 Four-Day Mahavir Jayanti Festival from April 7

Udaipur:For the first time, a grand-scale 4-day Mahavir Janma Kalyanak Mahotsav is being organized in the suburban regions of Udaipur by Sakal Jain Samaj and Mahavir Jain Jagruti Parishad, covering areas including Sector 3 to 8, Gayariyawas, Arihant Nagar, and Madri. The 2624th birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir will be celebrated with a series of cultural, devotional, and social service events starting from April 7.

Addressing the press conference, Dr. Himmatlal Vaya informed that the festival will commence on April 7 with a focus on Seva (service) and Jeev Daya (compassion for all beings). At 9 AM, fruits and biscuits will be distributed to patients at Satellite Hospital, Sector 5. Later, jaggery and fodder will be offered to cows in the Gaushala, followed by lunch for children at an orphanage.

On April 8, Arun Vaya shared that a Mehendi and Chaubisi Bhakti event by women will take place at Jain Sthanak Bhavan, Sector 4. The devotional session will include musical tributes to Lord Mahavir. The program is being coordinated by Sangeeta Bohra, Usha Mehta, and Sarita Kawadiya.

Sushil Bathia mentioned that on April 9, a Navkar Mantra Chanting World Record event titled “One World, One Mantra”, sponsored by JITO, will be organized at Vidya Niketan School, Sector 4, with the participation of the entire Jain community of Udaipur.

The same evening at 7:30 PM, Dinesh Nandawat informed, a grand cultural night by the Women’s Wing of the Parishad will be held at the same venue. Over 20 women’s groups will present vibrant performances. Coordinators of the event include Vandana Babel, Usha Kunawat, and Chanchal Mandawat.

On April 10, R.C. Mehta and Anandilal Bamboriya shared, the entire day will be dedicated to Lord Mahavir. Activities include Samayik from 6:30 to 7:30 AM at Jain Sthanak Bhavan, Sector 4, followed by a grand Shobha Yatra and Vehicle Rally starting at 8 AM from Vidya Niketan School. Tableaux by various organizations and schools will participate, with awards for the best entries. The rally will be flagged off by Vinod Lasod and will cover Sectors 3, 4, and 5 before returning to the starting point. Over 100 welcome gates and stalls offering refreshments by donors will be arranged along the route.

Following the rally, a Felicitation Ceremony will honor distinguished guests and donors. Rajendra Akhawat announced that community leaders will be presented with titles like Samaj Gaurav, Samaj Ratna, and Samaj Bhushan. Upcoming events for the year will also be unveiled.

Rajendra Daga and Hemant Pamecha added that the ceremony will be followed by a grand Swamivatsalya community feast, expected to host over 10,000 participants, with contributions from all Jain organizations in the region.

The Mahavir Jain Jagruti Parishad, established by Dr. Himmatlal Vaya and other committee members, was formed to promote unity, harmony, and holistic development among Jain followers, transcending sects and subsects. Representing over 5,000 Jain families, nearly 40% of Udaipur’s Jain population, the Parishad connects over 40 religious and social organizations.

Notable collaborators include Mahavir Mitra Mandal, Mahavir Jain Samiti, Digambar Jain Mandir Samiti (Sector 4), Shwetambar Jain Mandir (Sector 4), Peace Park Vikas Samiti, Mahaviram Vikas Samiti, Mahavir Jain Samiti (Sector 5), Digambar Chandraprabhu Chetalya (Sector 5), and youth/women groups from Sectors 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and Gayariyawas. Their enthusiastic support is driving this mega celebration.
