Udaipur: The “Bhatt Music Heritage” event, held on the occasion of late Indira Murdiya’s birth anniversary, captivated the audience with soulful musical performances at the Indira Svarangan auditorium. The event, part of the fortnight-long celebration, featured timeless melodies from the golden era of Indian cinema, curated by renowned director Vikram Bhatt.
The evening commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by distinguished guests including Dr. Ajay Murdiya, Nitij Murdiya, Kshitij Murdiya, Shraddha Murdiya, Astha Murdiya, and Dinesh Kataria. Shraddha Murdiya, director of Kashti Foundation, gave the welcome speech, followed by a tribute to Indira Murdiya’s legacy through a special video presentation, which deeply moved the audience.
Director Vikram Bhatt took the stage to reminisce about the legendary director Vijay Bhatt and his contributions to Indian cinema. Bhatt presented iconic songs from both his and his grandfather’s filmography, including the memorable “Tu Ganga Ki Mauj Mein Jamuna Ki Dhara” (Baiju Bawra, 1952), transporting the audience to the golden age of cinema. Other classic tunes like "Ye Hariyali Aur Ye Raasta" (Hariyali Aur Raasta, 1962), "Main To Ek Khwab Hoon" (Himalaya Ki God Mein, 1965), and "Teri Khushboo Mein Likhe Khat" (Arth, 1982) were performed with soulful renditions by Abdul Sheikh and Shoma Tandra, adding depth to the evening’s mood.
The audience was treated to a wide variety of songs, including hits from the 90s like “Ghoonghat Ki Aad Se Dilbar Ka” and "Jadoo Hai Tera Hi Jadoo" from Ghulam, keeping the nostalgia alive. The event also featured performances by the Ultimate Soul of Music (USM) group members, including Renu Bhatiya, Urvashi Singhi, and Rani Bhui. Songs like “Tumko Dekha Toh Ye Khayal Aaya” (Saath Saath, 1982) and “Chale Jana Zara Thahro” (Majboor, 1974) brought a romantic touch to the night.
The musical magic was enhanced with the use of LED wristbands that changed colors in sync with the melodies, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. The event was not just a musical performance but a tribute to the musical legacy of late Indira Murdiya and a celebration of timeless songs that continue to capture hearts.
