Transport Department Achieves 83% Revenue Target, Ongoing Campaign

Udaipur: The Transport Department has successfully achieved 83% of its revenue target for the financial year 2025-26, amidst an ongoing crackdown on vehicles that have not paid taxes. The department has warned of stringent action against vehicle owners in the coming days.

On Wednesday, 227 vehicles paid nearly ₹84 lakh in taxes. Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Gyandev Vishwakarma explained that in Rajsamand district, under the leadership of Additional RTO Nanji Ram Gulser, and with District Transport Officer Abhijeet Singh and their team, a special inspection was carried out in the mining area of Devgarh, leading to the detention of 55 defaulter vehicles, resulting in a ₹37 lakh revenue recovery.

Similarly, in Udaipur, District Transport Officer Nitin Bohra and his team conducted a raid at the Udaipur Cement Factory in Nahar Magra, where 10 vehicles were detained and ₹4 lakh in tax was recovered. Additionally, 326 challans were issued for violations like over-speeding, over-crowding, unfit vehicles, and lack of permits, amounting to a fine collection of ₹21.21 lakh.

Mr. Vishwakarma further stated that the revenue target for the Udaipur Transport Division has been achieved by 83%. He also mentioned that three amnesty schemes have been introduced to provide relief to vehicle owners. These include exemptions on e-ravana overloading fines, cancellation of registration certificates for destroyed vehicles, and new penalty rates for old outstanding taxes. Vehicle owners are encouraged to take advantage of these schemes.

The Regional Transport Officer has also directed vehicle dealers to ensure that taxes are deposited into the treasury on the same day the vehicle is sold.
