Geology Students Learn Solar Cooking Technique

Udaipur: Six students from the Geology Department of B.N. University, Udaipur, had the opportunity to learn about solar cooking from Dr. Manju Jain, who has been using a solar cooker for over 40 years. During the informative session held in Arvind Nagar, Dr. Jain demonstrated how she prepares food using solar energy. She explained that she had placed various items—green vegetables, moong dal, rice, and drumstick pods—in the solar cooker at 10:00 AM, and by the end of the session, they were all ready to be served.

Dr. Jain shared her vast experience, stating that she has successfully cooked all types of food using the solar cooker over the past four decades. She highlighted the benefits of solar cooking, including the retention of nutrients in the food, gas savings, and the fact that no stirring is needed while cooking. Dr. P.C. Jain, a water conservation advocate, encouraged every household with access to sunlight to use solar cookers as a sustainable energy solution.

The session was attended by the following students from Bhopal Nobles University, Udaipur: Riddhi Raj Rathore, Priyanka Rathore, Tanmay Sharma, Michel Lawford, Pallavi Upadhyay, and Lanchi Lohar. The workshop was hosted at Dr. Manju Jain’s residence at 3, Arvind Nagar, Sundarwas, Udaipur.
