Farmers Receive Support through Chief Minister’s Sensitivity and Budget Announcements

Sriganganagar: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the government has once again placed significant emphasis on farmer welfare in the second consecutive budget. These measures are not only providing farmers with support but also increasing their income. Special attention has been given to ensuring farmers receive complete irrigation water. This includes strengthening canals and constructing pucca (concrete) drains. Strengthening the canals and converting earthen drains into pucca ones will conserve water, allowing farmers to irrigate more land.

As per the budget announcements for 2025-26, the strengthening work of the Indira Gandhi main canal, from Burji No. 620 to 1458, will be carried out. An allocation of ₹75 crores has been made for this project. The canal strengthening will ensure it carries water according to its capacity and reduce the risk of erosion. Similarly, pucca drains will be reconstructed in 44,000 hectares of irrigated land across areas like Raisinhnagar, Anupgarh, Ghadsana, Rawla, and Vijaynagar, with an allocation of ₹200 crores. The reconstruction of these drains will ensure full irrigation for farmers, even those at the tail end of canals, and lead to a water saving of approximately 30%.

**Big Gift to Farmers in the Budget**

In the Sriganganagar region, 10,000 agricultural ponds (Diggi) will be constructed to make full use of canal irrigation water. The 2025-26 budget has placed special emphasis on the construction of these ponds to store irrigation water, allowing farmers to use new techniques for irrigation as per their needs. Last year, the target was to construct 5,000 ponds, but the government has increased this target to 10,000 ponds. Farmers will be given these ponds on a 'first come, first served' basis. Along with the construction of ponds, the government is also offering subsidies on solar pumps, sprinklers, drip irrigation systems, and fencing to protect crops.

**Agricultural Marketing Board**

**Carrot Market in Sadhuwali to Take Shape Soon**

The Rajasthan government had announced the establishment of a carrot market in Sadhuwali, Ganganagar, in the 2024-25 budget, fulfilling a long-standing demand from local farmers. With the establishment of this market, farmers in the Sadhuwali area, a major carrot-producing region, will have a facility to sell their produce. Additionally, the Carrot Market will offer a simple, efficient, and safe system for carrot washing, benefiting farmers. As per a letter from the Additional Secretary and Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department, Jaipur, free land has been allocated for the market. The establishment of this market will not only benefit farmers but also create employment opportunities for local workers and increase their income. Moreover, the market will generate revenue for the market committee, benefiting both farmers and entrepreneurs.

**Mini Food Park in Anupgarh**

In the 2025-26 budget, the Rajasthan government also announced the establishment of a mini food park in Anupgarh. Land for the project has already been identified in Chak 1DSM, with 25.04 hectares allocated for the park. The mini food park will bring together farmers, processors, and retailers, providing a mechanism to connect agricultural production with the market. The park will include storage centers, primary processing centers, central processing units, cold storage, and food processing units, along with supply chain infrastructure. This initiative aims to maximize value addition, minimize post-harvest losses, increase farmers' income, and create employment opportunities, especially in rural areas.

Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma’s sensitivity to farmers' concerns will undoubtedly provide them with significant support and increase their income. It is noteworthy that the current state government is continuously working for the benefit of farmers and is committed to addressing their issues. Through its budget announcements, the government is making continuous strides to support farmers, improving irrigation facilities and increasing the Farmer’s Welfare Fund to ₹9,000. Farmers have expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for these announcements.
