Exhibition of High-Breed Calves Organized Under Hindustan Zinc’s Samadhan Project

Udaipur: To enhance farmers’ annual income through livestock development, Hindustan Zinc, in collaboration with BAIF, organized a rally and exhibition of high-breed calves under the Samadhan Project in Malikheda. The event was graced by Balwant Singh Rathore, IBU CEO of Rajpura Dariba Complex.

At this advanced breed calf exhibition, Dr. Nanalal Regar, Nodal Officer of the Animal Husbandry Department, and Laxmilal Regar, LEO of the Animal Husbandry Department, provided valuable insights to livestock owners on various schemes and activities related to advanced cattle rearing. They shared crucial information on deworming, vaccination, timely insemination, proper maintenance, nutrition, disease prevention, and overall animal health care.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 livestock owners, including a notable presence of women farmers. A key highlight of the rally was the evaluation of 20 high-quality calves born through artificial insemination of premium breeds such as Gir, Sahiwal, Holstein Friesian, and Murrah buffaloes. The top three calves were awarded based on growth, health, and overall quality, and all livestock owners were recognized with prizes.

Hindustan Zinc has been actively promoting genetic improvement of calves through artificial insemination in the villages surrounding the Rajpura Dariba region. Farmers have benefitted from high-quality breeds like Gir, Murrah, Jersey, Holstein, and superior goat breeds. The initiative also includes artificial insemination, animal health camps, deworming, vaccination, training sessions, green fodder distribution, and mineral mixture support.

Farmers shared their experiences with the Samadhan Project, highlighting the improvement in livestock quality through artificial insemination. They emphasized the increase in milk production, which has positively impacted their income and contributed to the national agenda of doubling farmers’ income.

For the past ten years, the Samadhan Project has been empowering farmers across 36 villages in Railmagra Block, supporting agricultural and livestock development. Under this initiative, 8,491 artificial inseminations (AI) have been conducted, resulting in 2,516 animal births. In the last three years, the project has also promoted a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) with 1,800 stakeholders, further strengthening the rural economy.
