Principal Secretary Reviews Meeting on Mining Sector Developments

Udaipur, Principal Secretary for Mines and Petroleum, T. Ravikant, stated that the Rajasthan government has announced the establishment of an Excellence Center in Jaipur, an Institute of Mines in Udaipur, and a Petro Campus at MBM University in Jodhpur as part of its budget initiatives. Additionally, the formation of Rajasthan Mineral Exploration Ltd. aims to give a new direction to the mining sector, accelerate exploration, and provide opportunities for the younger generation in advanced research and studies related to mining.

He emphasized that the Mines Department has already started preparing the roadmap for the timely execution of these budget announcements and is completing the necessary formalities.

During a review meeting in Udaipur, attended by Mines Director Deepak Tanwar and senior officials, T. Ravikant issued key directives. He highlighted that under the leadership of CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, rapid positive changes are taking place in the mining sector. The state has introduced a new mineral policy, M-sand policy, and simplified rules and procedures. Rajasthan is now leading in mining block and plot auctions, earning recognition at the National Conference of Mining Ministers in Konark, Odisha.

T. Ravikant instructed officials to achieve 100% revenue targets, curb revenue loss, and set new records in revenue generation. He stressed that promoting legal mining is key to effectively stopping illegal mining and called for strategies on exploration, delineation, block preparation, and planned e-auctions.

Mines Director Deepak Tanwar reported that the department has achieved a record revenue growth of 23% and assured that 100% of revenue targets will be met, creating a new benchmark in revenue collection.

Additional Mines Director Mahesh Mathur informed that auctions for minor and major mining blocks are ongoing, and strict actions are being taken against illegal mining. RSMET Chief Executive N.K. Singh provided updates on exploration and mining block preparations.

During the meeting, T. Ravikant reviewed responses to assembly questions, operationalizing auctioned mines, auction preparations, closing errors, IT system improvements, and other key issues.

Officials present included Additional Director P.R. Ameta, RSMET Chief Executive N.P. Singh, ADG Gopalaram, SME Dharmendra Lohar, Kamleshwar Baregama, S.P. Sharma, TA Satish Arya, and Udaipur ME Asif Ansari.
