Udaipur: In a new initiative, the *Eco-Web Udaipur Newsletter* was launched today. The newsletter was unveiled by the esteemed former Vice-Chancellor of MPUAT, Dr. V.B. Singh, during a special program dedicated to environmental awareness and education.
The first issue of the newsletter is dedicated to *Maa Amrita Devi*, who sacrificed her life for the protection of trees, along with 363 villagers and her three daughters.
The objective of the *Eco-Web Udaipur Newsletter* is to document and highlight significant environmental conservation and educational efforts that have taken place over the past three to five decades. It features profiles of former and current educators, case studies on environmental science-related issues, notable achievements, glimpses of public awareness initiatives, and a dedicated photo gallery showcasing important aspects of environmental education.
During the launch ceremony of the newsletter, Dr. L.L. Sharma (Editor, *Eco-Web Udaipur Newsletter*) emphasized the importance of connecting the past with the present. He stated, “This newsletter is not just a compilation of efforts but a tribute to the individuals and institutions that have tirelessly worked towards environmental conservation.”
The first issue of the newsletter includes profiles of Padma Shri Dr. G.C. Mishra and freedom fighter Shri Balwant Singh Mehta, highlighting their contributions to cell science and environmental conservation, respectively. Additionally, it features a report on Udaipur’s environmental challenges from 50 years ago. The issue also includes a list of extensive research on aquatic environments, especially surface water and lakes.
The newsletter includes research findings on the Menar wetland by Dr. Darshana Dave, and details of a new software developed by young student Mannan Sharma for observing stars.
The *Eco-Web Udaipur Newsletter* will serve as an important resource for researchers, students, policymakers, and environmental enthusiasts, helping to promote environmental awareness and inspire sustainable development.
