Seminar on EPR Compliance Organized at UCCI

Udaipur,  "Compliance with EPR regulations is mandatory; otherwise, industries and businesses will be shut down." This statement was made by Shri Sharad Saxena, Regional Officer of the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, during a seminar held at UCCI.

The seminar was organized under the joint aegis of the Udaipur Industrial Waste Management and Research Center Trust and the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Pyrotech Tempsons Auditorium. The topic of discussion was "EPR: Strategies for Waste Management and Producer Accountability."

The event featured subject experts, including Shri Sharad Saxena, Regional Officer of the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, Shri K. Ganesh, Director of Bisleri International, and Shri Prabhjot Sodhi, Director of CEE, New Delhi. Around 75 participants from various industries and businesses attended the seminar.

At the beginning of the event, Shri Manish Galundia, Senior Vice President of UCCI, delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the importance of EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility). He emphasized that the emission of hazardous waste is inevitable in industrial production, and the government's initiative aims to recycle industrial waste for reuse.

Shri Komal Kothari, Executive Chairman of the Udaipur Industrial Waste Management and Research Center, stated that a lack of awareness about current EPR regulations is the biggest challenge for industries. He explained that the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of India, has made EPR compliance mandatory under waste management and environmental protection regulations.

Shri C.S.R. Mehta introduced the subject experts.

Shri Prabhjot Sodhi elaborated on the EPR requirements in the plastic industry and discussed the opportunities within EPR compliance.

Shri K. Ganesh, Director of Bisleri International, explained how the EPR process works for manufacturers, importers, and brand owners.

Shri Sharad Saxena, Regional Officer of the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, presented a case study on EPR in the plastic industry.

Through a slide show, it was demonstrated that violating or failing to comply with EPR regulations could result in fines or even the shutdown of businesses.

During the Q&A session, subject experts addressed the queries and concerns of participants regarding EPR regulations.

The event was conducted by Dr. Sakshi Jain, Executive Officer of UIWM & RC Trust.

Companies such as Re Sustainability Limited, Finiloop, Maxon Laboratories, Mewar Polytex, Pyrotech, Ravindra Herize, Secure Meters, Wonder Cement, Volchem India, Rock Stone Industry, Deepak Enterprises, and G.R. Infra Projects were among the 75+ participants.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Prakash Chandra Bolia, Treasurer.
