Reliance to Double Its Investment in West Bengal

Kolkata: Reliance Industries has announced plans to double its investment in West Bengal over the next 10 years. Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of the company, made this announcement at the 8th Bengal Global Business Summit. He mentioned that over the past decade, Reliance has increased its investment in the state from ₹2,000 crores to ₹50,000 crores, with a proposal to raise it to ₹1 lakh crore by 2035.

During the summit, Mukesh Ambani made five major announcements. He stated that the data center in Kolkata is being transformed into an AI-ready facility, which will be completed in the next nine months. This data center will provide cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and cloud computing, boosting the state's economy.

In the retail sector, Ambani announced the opening of 400 new stores over the next three years. Currently, Reliance operates over 1,300 stores in West Bengal, and this number will increase to 1,700 in the next three years, creating new job opportunities. Reliance has already provided more than one lakh jobs in various sectors in West Bengal.

Ambani also promised to give global recognition to Bengal's artisans. Through the 'Swadesh' platform, products from Bengal will be made available worldwide, with stores opening in London, New York, and Paris. These stores will feature Bengal's finest Jamdani and Tant sarees, Baluchuri, Murshidabad, Bishnupur, Tassar silk sarees, Kantha sarees, and products made from jute and khadi.

Recognizing solar energy as the future source of power, Ambani expressed Reliance's commitment to contributing to West Bengal's green economy with the slogan "Solar Bangla for Sonar Bangla."

Reliance Foundation, in collaboration with the state government, is also working on the restoration of the Kalighat Temple. Ambani expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating, "Mamata didi, I personally thank you for giving us this opportunity to serve. Our foundation is committed to supporting the government’s various initiatives to fulfill the state's needs and improve the lives of the people."
