Welcoming the Increase in Seats in Medical Colleges and IITs

Kota. The number of students appearing for medical and engineering entrance exams is steadily increasing. Last year, more than 24 lakh students appeared for NEET. This year, it is expected that around 26 lakh students will appear for the exam. Similarly, in the January session of JEE Main, 13.78 lakh candidates registered, with 13 lakh appearing for the exam. This number is expected to increase in the April session, and it is likely that the number of unique candidates for JEE Main will exceed 15 lakh. The government has announced the addition of 10,000 seats in medical education next year and 75,000 seats in the next five years, along with an increase of 65,000 seats in 23 IITs. This will provide some relief from the intense competition. Other welcomed decisions include expanding the hostels and infrastructure at IIT Patna, providing broadband connectivity to government schools, making digital textbooks available for schools and higher education, and establishing three Centers of Excellence in AI for Education with a budget of 500 crores.
