Jaipur: Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and Spokesperson Pankaj Kumar Sharma has sharply criticized the Modi government's policies ahead of the Union Budget. He stated that the government's "regressive policies" have eroded investor confidence in India and turned the "Ease of Doing Business" into "Difficulty of Doing Business."
Sharma emphasized that the upcoming budget must eliminate the "raid raj" and "tax terrorism." He urged the central government to take concrete measures to protect manufacturing jobs in India and to boost wages and purchasing power through decisive action.
He pointed out that private investment has hit an all-time low over the past decade, forcing many industrialists to leave India for foreign shores. Questioning the government's claims of improving the business environment, Sharma remarked that the complex, punitive, and arbitrary tax system, combining GST and income tax, has become a significant threat to India's prosperity.
The Congress Party has demanded that the government simplify the tax regime and make it investor-friendly to promote economic growth and ease the burden on businesses.
