Jaisalmer, December 26. A district-level workshop under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme (Rabi 2024-25) was organized at the Agriculture Department auditorium in Jaisalmer. The event was chaired by Harishankar Meena, Additional Director of Agriculture (Research), Jaipur, with the presence of Mahaveer Prasad Chhipa, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), Jaisalmer, along with bank representatives, Agriculture Insurance Company cluster coordinator Bhaira Ram, district coordinator Hemraj Balai, and tehsil representatives.
The chairperson reviewed the low progress of crop insurance in the district and directed that efforts be intensified to achieve 120% of the target for both loanee and non-loanee farmers by December 31, 2024. Issues reported by bankers regarding the National Insurance Portal were discussed, and assurances were given for prompt resolution through coordination with the Agriculture Commissioner's office.
Mahaveer Prasad Chhipa instructed representatives from the Agriculture Department and insurance companies to promote awareness among farmers about enrolling in the scheme. He urged farmers to insure their Rabi crops against natural calamities and submit updated crop details (girdawari) to their respective banks by December 29 to ensure accurate insurance coverage and prevent issues during claim settlements.
The final date to enroll under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme is December 31, 2024.
