Pacific University Awards PhD to Ramsingh Rathore

Pacific University has awarded a PhD to Shri Ramsingh Rathore in the subject of "The Role of Zamindars and Prominent Historical Families in Mewar Administration" (18th-20th Century). This research was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Ajatshatru Singh Ranawat from the university's Department of History.

It is noteworthy that after an interview conducted by Prof. Dilbag Singh, the Head of the Department of History at the renowned JNU University, Delhi, the university awarded the PhD. In his recommendation, Prof. Dilbag Singh wrote that Shri Rathore's research is the first to survey and authenticate documents from national and state archives, as well as manuscripts, seals, copper plates, and inscriptions from private museums related to the administration of the Mewar state.

The research highlights the role of non-Rajput zamindars, such as Brahmins, Pāneri, Nāgda, Pāliwāl, Baṛwā, Purohit, along with Jain families like Boliyā, Mehtā, Kāwādiya, Kothārī, and Galundiyā. It also emphasizes the contributions of the Shivrati branch of the Mewar dynasty and the Solanki estate in Pānarwā, located in the Bhil tribal region of Bhomat.

This research reveals that Mewar was never subjected to foreign rule, resisting the Turks, Mughals, and even the British, and it played an inspiring role in the Indian independence movement.
