Udaipur: Vedanta's Hindustan Zinc, India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, in collaboration with the Anil Agarwal Foundation, today inaugurated 31 Nand Ghars, anganwadis modernised by Hindustan Zinc, in Rajsamand District. This is a significant stride in strengthening Rajasthan's anganwadi ecosystem. The ceremony, held at the Madara Nand Ghar in the Railmagra block of Rajsamand, was graced by Shri Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, Member of Legislative Assembly - Nathdwara; Shrimati Mahima Kumari Mewar, Member of Parliament for Rajsamand; Shri Arun Misra, CEO - Hindustan Zinc Limited; Shrimati Anupam Nidhi, Head CSR – Vedanta & Hindustan Zinc; Shri Balwant Singh Rathore, IBU CEO – Rajpura Dariba Complex, Hindustan Zinc; and Shri Kalyan Singh Shaktawat, prominent personality from the village Madara. The event saw enthusiastic participation from local community members, district administration, the Nand Ghar team, and Hindustan Zinc representatives. During the event, Shrimati Mahima Kumari Mewar and Shri Vishvaraj Singh Mewar commended Hindustan Zinc and the Anil Agarwal Foundation for their unwavering dedication to strengthening Rajasthan’s anganwadi infrastructure.
Nand Ghar is Vedanta’s flagship community initiative, developed under the aegis of the Anil Agarwal Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. These modernized anganwadis provide comprehensive development opportunities through nutrition programs, digital early childhood education, healthcare services, and women empowerment activities. The newly inaugurated Nand Ghars, located in the Railmagra and Khamnor blocks, aim to transform rural communities by fostering holistic development for children and women. These centres form part of the Anil Agarwal Foundation’s ambitious vision to establish 25,000 Nand Ghars across Rajasthan in the next two years, driving sustainable rural development.
Sharing her thoughts at the inauguration, Shrimati Mahima Kumari Mewar, Member of Parliament, Rajsamand, remarked, “Children and women are central to our development strategy for Rajasthan, and their growth is our government’s topmost priority. The inauguration of these Nand Ghars showcases the shared vision of the Government of India, Vedanta, Hindustan Zinc, and the Anil Agarwal Foundation to nurture children and women at the grassroots level. Adding his thoughts, Shri Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, MLA Nathdwara, added, “Rajasthan’s future lies in the development of its children and women. The Nand Ghar initiative will create holistic development hubs across the district, ensuring the well-being and growth of our communities.”

This milestone builds on Anil Agarwal Foundation’s achievements in 2024, during which more than 550 Nand Ghars were established across six districts in Rajasthan, contributing to a total of approximately 3,500 centres in 15 districts. On a national scale, the Nand Ghar initiative has modernized over 6,600 anganwadis across 15 states, positively impacting over 2,60,000 children and 1,90,000 women.
Equipped with e-learning tools, solar power, and healthcare services, Nand Ghars are setting a new benchmark for rural community development, reinforcing Vedanta’s and Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to sustainable growth and social transformation in India.
Beyond nutrition, education, and healthcare, Hindustan Zinc’s social impact encompasses education, healthcare, women empowerment, water and sanitation, skill development, and infrastructure improvement. Flagship programs such as Shiksha Sambal, Jeevan Tarang, Unchi Udaan, Zinc Football Academy, Sakhi and Samadhan have positively impacted nearly 20 lakh lives across 3,700 villages. With initiatives promoting digital literacy, scholarships, self-help groups, and rural sports, Hindustan Zinc continues to strengthen the socio-economic fabric of its operational areas.
