Consumer Awareness Discussion at Bhupal Nobles University

Udaipur, December 21, 2024: A significant discussion on consumer awareness was organized by the Home Science Department and the National Service Scheme (NSS) units of the Girl's Unit at Bhupal Nobles University. On this occasion, Pramod Jhanwar, head of Maruti Seva Samiti, Udaipur, emphasized the need for consumer awareness in light of the upcoming National Consumer Day on December 24. He stated that a majority of the public remains unaware of legal aspects related to consumer protection. Consumers must be aware of their rights to protect themselves from current cybercrimes. He explained the three-tier system for consumer protection, with consumer courts established at the national, state, and district levels. He also provided valuable information on how consumers should approach the purchase of goods, what documents are needed for filing cases in court, and the functioning of the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Maruti Seva Samiti's Hiralal Choudhary gave an in-depth explanation of cybercrimes and online frauds, sharing ways to protect oneself from such threats. The College Dean, Dr. Shilpa Rathore, welcomed the guests and stated that the main aim of this session was to inform students about various aspects of consumer protection. She emphasized that our role as consumers starts early in the morning, and it is crucial to be familiar with consumer protection laws and use them confidently when needed.

The event also saw the participation of Bhupal Nobles University's Chairperson Prof. (Col.) Shiv Singh Sarangdevot, Secretary Dr. Mahendra Singh Agarwal, Managing Director Mohabbat Singh Rathore, and University Registrar Dr. Niranjan Narayan Singh Rathore, who extended their best wishes for such initiatives and encouraged NSS volunteers to organize similar awareness programs in the community.
