MLSU Management Board Meeting :Focus on Recruitment, Infrastructure, and Administrative Changes

Udaipur: The management board meeting of Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) was held on Tuesday under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Sunita Mishra. The meeting addressed a variety of important topics related to faculty recruitment, promotions, administrative upgrades, and infrastructure development. However, a significant oversight was the exclusion of student-centric issues from the agenda, leaving their concerns unresolved.

Long-Delayed Career Advancement Process Stalls Again

The Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), pending for a prolonged period, was discussed in the meeting. Despite the anticipation, envelopes related to teacher promotions remained unopened. According to Financial Controller Seema Yadav, all relevant documents must undergo a thorough review before further action can be taken, in line with government directives.

The financial controller has been instructed to complete this verification process within one month, after which another management board meeting will be convened to proceed with the promotions. The delay has further prolonged the wait for faculty members seeking advancement, despite ongoing efforts to expedite the process.

Approval for New Academic Recruitment

The board approved the creation of 88 academic positions under the roster system. The recruitment process will begin as soon as financial approval is secured from the government. This decision marks a crucial step in addressing the shortage of faculty and improving academic standards at the university.

Implementation of RTPP Act for Self-Financed Employees

A major decision was taken regarding the employees working under the Self-Finance Board. It was resolved that their appointments and pay scales will now be governed by the RTPP Act. This change will be implemented starting January, aligning with government policies and ensuring a standardized approach to employment conditions and remuneration.

New Administrative Infrastructure Gets Green Signal

Plans for a Modern Vice-Chancellor's Secretariat

The board approved the construction of a state-of-the-art administrative building that will include the Vice-Chancellor's Secretariat, Registrar's Office, and Financial Controller's Office.

Multi-Purpose Examination Hall for Students

In addition, a new three-story building for the Confidential Examination Branch was approved. This facility will feature a multipurpose examination hall capable of accommodating a large number of students simultaneously, providing a much-needed upgrade to the university's examination infrastructure.

The entire project will be executed under the leadership of NBCC, ensuring modern construction standards and functionality.

New Departments and Campus Facilities

The establishment of a new Food and Nutrition Department was approved, signaling the university's focus on expanding its academic offerings. Furthermore, the board granted approval for the construction of new buildings for the Law College and Engineering College, reflecting the institution’s commitment to enhancing its campus facilities.

Harikesh Meena Examination Case Decision

The board discussed the ongoing investigation into the Harikesh Meena examination case. It was decided that his Provident Fund (PPF) and pension benefits will not be withheld until the audit inquiry is completed, ensuring procedural fairness.

Student Concerns Overlooked

Despite the numerous decisions made during the meeting, issues directly impacting students remained absent from the agenda. Key student concerns, such as improvements in hostels, academic resources, and extracurricular facilities, were not discussed. This omission has caused disappointment among the student community, who feel their voices are being sidelined.

Prominent Attendees and Contributions

The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including legislators Uday Lal Dangi and Pratap Gameti, Professor Ashok Sharma, Additional Divisional Commissioner CR Devasi, Registrar Dr. BC Garg, Professor BL Verma, Professor Hemant Dwivedi, Professor Pratibha, Professor MK Jain, Professor Satish Sharma, and Dr. Juhi Pradhan. Their collective inputs were instrumental in addressing the key administrative and faculty-related issues.

While the management board made significant decisions regarding recruitment, infrastructure, and administrative reforms, the lack of focus on student-centric issues highlighted a critical gap in the university's priorities. It remains to be seen if these concerns will be addressed in subsequent meetings. The university's ability to balance administrative efficiency with student welfare will be essential for its overall growth and development.
