Udaipur : A meeting of the Retired Forest Officers' Committee was held at Maharaja Pratap Colony Sector 13, under the chairmanship of retired Chief Conservator of Forests and President of Green People Society, Rahul Bhattnagar. The meeting focused on forest management, particularly in the Mewar region of Rajasthan.
The discussion highlighted the laws from the pre-independence princely state period, as well as post-independence regulations, management policies, and their impact. Several laws were pointed out that were later neglected and became ineffective. Concerns were raised about the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, particularly the absence of a clear deadline for submitting applications under the Act.
The meeting also deliberated on the protection, development, and conservation of forests, along with wildlife management. Among those who participated in the meeting were R.S. Shekhawat, R.K.
