### Principal Scientific Adviser Delivers 31st Kothari Memorial Oration
The 31st Prof. Daulat Singh Kothari Memorial Oration was held at the Defence Laboratory in Jodhpur on 19th October 2024. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, along with Dr. Sameer V. Kamat, Secretary DD R&D and Chairman of DRDO; Shri R. V. Hara Prasad, DS & DG (NS & M), and Director of the Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur; Dr. Manu Korulla, DG (R&M); and Dr. Y. Seenivas Rao, Former DG (NS & M). The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp and a prayer to Maa Saraswati.
During the welcome address, Shri R. V. Hara Prasad highlighted the current scientific and technological advancements at the Defence Laboratory in Jodhpur. In his presidential address, Dr. Kamat stressed the importance of cutting-edge solutions to adapt to evolving warfare scenarios.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, the Chief Guest and Orator, delivered the memorial oration on the topic, “India @2023: S&T Opportunities and Challenges.” He emphasized the need for basic research in India and encouraged young researchers to explore areas like quantum computing, sensing and detection technologies, and Artificial Intelligence. Prof. Sood also underscored the importance of sustained innovation in science and technology for the nation’s holistic development.
The event, chaired by Shri Ajay Singh Rathore, Associate Director, concluded with the National Anthem and a vote of thanks by Dr. Ajay Jain, Technology Director.
