President of India Graces 32nd Convocation of Mohanlal Sukhadia University

Udaipur, Rajasthan  In a momentous occasion for Mohanlal Sukhadia University, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, graced the 32nd convocation ceremony with her esteemed presence. Speaking to the faculty, students, and dignitaries present, the President reflected on the pivotal role education plays in today’s rapidly changing world, particularly in the areas of knowledge, science, and technology. She urged the students to embrace lifelong learning, emphasizing that “The Spirit of the Student” should remain an enduring guide throughout their lives.

During her address, President Murmu highlighted the importance of hard work and dedication, noting that these qualities serve as the foundation for long-term success and fulfillment. She reminded the graduates that education is not just about acquiring degrees but about fostering a mindset of continuous growth and evolution. In a world that is constantly shifting, she said, students must remain adaptable and curious, always seeking to improve themselves and contribute meaningfully to society.

The President also advised the graduating students to balance their personal ambitions with a strong sense of social responsibility. According to her, while pursuing career goals is important, it is equally vital to retain a deep sense of empathy and sensitivity towards others. She elaborated on the concept of social sensitivity as a natural human trait, but one that sometimes gets overshadowed by blind selfishness, often due to external influences like societal pressures or misguided values. President Murmu emphasized that true personal welfare and success come not from self-centered pursuits, but from actions that benefit the larger community.

The President then turned to the subject of character and integrity, urging students to live by the highest moral standards. She cautioned them against engaging in actions that could mar their reputation or bring dishonor upon themselves. Ethical behavior, she said, should be a hallmark of their personal and professional conduct. She underscored the idea that honesty, justice, and fairness should permeate all aspects of their lives, and that character is built through consistent adherence to these values.

In her speech, President Murmu also spoke about the transformative power of education as a tool for empowerment. She expressed her pleasure in seeing Mohanlal Sukhadia University play a significant role in shaping the future of so many students, particularly those from marginalized communities. She noted that the university has been offering higher education for over six decades and has been a beacon of hope for students from SC and ST communities, contributing to social justice through inclusive education.

The President praised the university's commitment to societal development through its unique initiatives, such as adopting villages and involving students in village development programs. She applauded this as a proactive and thoughtful approach to addressing social challenges and enhancing rural welfare. By taking on such responsibilities, the university is not only fostering academic excellence but also encouraging students to understand and contribute to the development of their communities. This, she noted, demonstrates a conscious and commendable attitude towards social responsibility, making Mohanlal Sukhadia University an exemplary institution in both academic and social spheres.

President Murmu concluded her address by reiterating the importance of education as a means of personal growth and societal betterment. She encouraged the graduates to embark on their future journeys with confidence, integrity, and a deep sense of purpose, reminding them that their actions today will shape the world of tomorrow.
