Media as a Guiding Light for Global Peace and Harmony

Abu Road: On the second day of the National Media Conference held at the Shantivan headquarters of Brahma Kumaris, speakers from across the country expressed their views on the theme "Media as a Guiding Light for Global Peace and Harmony." Organized by the Media Wing, the conference focuses on the role of media in spiritual empowerment for a healthy and happy society.

Dr. Dhruva Jyoti Pati, Dean and Director of India Today Media Institute in Noida, expressed his delight in being present, stating, "The divine atmosphere here is remarkable. It is through spirituality that global peace can be achieved. We come from a great culture where people of different languages, colors, and cultures coexist harmoniously. If we begin self-reflection, self-analysis, and self-contemplation, many of the world's problems will disappear. Media serves as a guiding light for global peace and harmony."

Prof. Dr. Narendra Kaushik, Dean of the School of Mass Communication at JECRC University Jaipur, emphasized the media's crucial role in establishing peace in the world. He noted that media has played an important part in addressing the challenges faced by the country and has sent positive messages during emergencies.

Motilal Verma, Joint Director of the Public Relations Department of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation, highlighted the negative impact of social media on society. He reminisced that life was much more peaceful 40-50 years ago when people directly connected with each other. He called for the media to step up and guide people towards peace once again, returning to the golden culture of the past.

**Promoting Global Peace**

Bhagwandas Thakkar, a columnist and independent journalist from Disa, Gujarat, spoke about the Brahma Kumaris family's efforts to promote positivity and world peace across India and globally. He stated, "The sole purpose of the organization is world peace, and the media must be involved. When media takes a positive role during conflicts, wars can come to an end. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the media provided positive news that helped us recover from the crisis."

Dr. Deepti Joshi, All-India Bureau Chief of Lok Samna News in Mumbai, emphasized the fragile state of the three pillars of democracy and stressed the need for media vigilance.

**Media’s Role in Public Welfare**

Hari Ballabh Meghwal, President of the Journalist Association of Rajasthan (JAR), referenced the ideals presented by the journalist Narada Muni and noted that media continues to play a significant role in public welfare. He remarked that journalists have conveyed positive messages across various sectors through their writings. BK Ranjan, a zonal coordinator from Valsad, guided everyone in experiencing deep peace through Rajyoga meditation.

Additional speakers included Priyadarshini Narender, a communication consultant and event manager from Delhi, senior journalist Suresh Sharma from Gwalior, and BK Nandini, additional zonal coordinator from Gujarat, who also shared their thoughts.

The welcome speech was given by BK Prahlad from Gwalior, while the session was moderated by Dr. BK Reena from Bhopal. BK Shashikant from Disa expressed gratitude, and National Coordinator BK Shantanu welcomed all guests with shawls and mementos.
