MP C.P. Joshi Demands Revocation of Rahul Gandhi's Passport

New Delhi: C.P. Joshi, former president of the Rajasthan BJP and MP from Chittorgarh, has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, demanding the revocation of Rahul Gandhi's passport, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

In his letter, Joshi stated that having someone like Rahul Gandhi in a leadership position poses a threat to national security. He emphasized that Gandhi's activities suggest he is playing into the hands of anti-national forces.

Joshi asserted that Gandhi's statements should be viewed within the context of the country's history and current affairs, given his responsibility as a leader from a party that has held power for decades.

He criticized Gandhi for making statements on foreign soil that are not fitting for a responsible Indian citizen. According to Joshi, Gandhi's comments are not merely political but fall squarely within the realm of anti-national activities, raising doubts about his conduct.

The MP argued that Gandhi's remarks could affect the country’s internal stability, border security, and international relations, as he misuses his position as the Leader of the Opposition. Joshi pointed out that, before making statements abroad, leaders are expected to consider basic facts; however, Gandhi appears to have prioritized personal interests or the influence of foreign powers over national interests, as evidenced by his statements during his recent trip to the U.S.

Joshi also condemned Gandhi's remarks about the Sikh community, stating that claiming they cannot wear their traditional identities in India is a disgraceful example. He accused Gandhi of supporting the agenda of Khalistani separatists abroad. Furthermore, he criticized Gandhi for targeting Indian industrialists and questioned whether there is any precedent globally for a political leader to publicly disparage their country’s military, farmers, or business leaders while overseas.

He noted that Gandhi frequently meets with representatives of foreign companies that have previously harmed Indian businesses economically, suggesting that this behavior could be viewed as an attempt to undermine the Indian economy. Joshi argued that Gandhi’s actions reflect an effort to distort the image of Indian society.

Additionally, Joshi highlighted the sensitivity of India-Bangladesh relations and criticized Gandhi for his behavior towards journalists questioning him about recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. He indicated that this behavior illustrates that Gandhi is following a predetermined agenda that contradicts India’s international policies.

Joshi concluded that such baseless statements that tarnish the country's image cannot be justified as free speech, making it imperative for Gandhi to resign from his significant position as Leader of the Opposition. He further stated that if Gandhi wishes to retain this position, his passport should be revoked to prevent him from using foreign platforms to promote anti-India agendas, which could pose a serious threat to internal peace and foreign relations.
