Successful Operation to Remove Stone from Young Patient's Lungs at PIMS Hospital

In a rare and critical medical case, doctors at the Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Udaipur successfully performed an operation to remove a stone from a young patient's lungs.

Chairman of PIMS Hospital, Ashish Agrawal, revealed that a 30-year-old patient had been experiencing difficulties in breathing for the past three months, along with complaints of coughing blood and chest pain. The patient was brought to the Respiratory Medical OPD for examination. A year ago, the patient had developed fibrocalcific changes with a large bronchiectatic cavity in the right lung instead of the usual bronchus.

The plan for bronchoscopy was executed by the respiratory team, led by Dr. Sanidhya Tank, Dr. Arpit Johar, Dr. Gurmaihar Singh Thethi, Dr. Gourang, Dr. Shubhniesh, Dr. Abdul Wahab, and Giriraj. During the bronchoscopy, using a memory basket, the medical team successfully removed a stone-like, approximately half-inch-sized, hardened debris from the patient's lungs.

Broncholith, a highly rare condition, poses potential dangers to life. The successful removal of the stone marks a crucial milestone in the patient's recovery, showcasing the expertise and dedication of the medical team at PIMS Hospital.
