Freedom Fighter Manohar Lal Oudichya Immersed in the Five Elements with State Honors

Udaipur: Late on Tuesday night, Udaipur resident and freedom fighter Manohar Lal Oudichya, who actively contributed to the independence movement, was laid to rest. At the Ashok Nagar Moksh Dham in Udaipur, his final rites were conducted with state honors. District Collector Arvind Poswal, Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, and other officials paid their respects with floral tributes.

The final journey of Shri Oudichya commenced from his residence on Wednesday afternoon. Prior to this, under the leadership of Indira Sharma, the president of the Sahastra Oudichya Samaj, the executive vice-president Dinesh Dave, along with other office bearers, paid homage by donning turbans and offering their condolences. The procession was attended by a large number of relatives, members of the society, and respected citizens of the city. The tricolor was draped over his mortal remains at the Moksh Dham in Ashok Nagar. District Collector Arvind Poswal, SP Dr. Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, ADM City Rajiv Dwivedi, ASP Shilpa Rajawat, Deputy Mayor Paras Singhvi, and social worker Ravindra Shrimali, among other dignitaries, paid floral tributes. Police personnel saluted and performed a ceremonial flypast in honor of Shri Oudichya. Following this, the tricolor was respectfully folded by the police personnel.

Shri Oudichya's three sons, Dr. Prahlad Sharma, Dr. Prakash Sharma, and Chandra Prakash, along with grandchildren and other family members, performed the last rites by placing the mortal remains in the funeral pyre.

Freedom fighter Shri Manohar Lal Oudichya was born on June 10, 1925, in Bramhpuri, Udaipur. His parents, late Shri Ganpat Lal and late Smt. Jashoda Devi, instilled strong values and principles in him from childhood. After completing his initial education in Udaipur, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Agra University in 1946 and later an LLB degree from Rajasthan University in 1948. Shri Oudichya actively participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942, leading student protests against British rule. Following his imprisonment under the Defense of India Rules, he continued his active involvement in the independence movement.

Post-independence, Shri Oudichya served in the public works department of the Rajasthan government, demonstrating dedication and honesty in his duties. He retired as the office superintendent in 1980. Even after retirement, he continued to contribute to the department and society in various capacities. In his later years, he devoted time to spiritual pursuits, reading religious texts, and engaging in discussions with people on various topics.

Shri Oudichya was married to late Smt. Kanta Devi, and they raised a family with three sons and one daughter. He leaves behind a legacy filled with patriotism and a family that includes grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shri Oudichya received accolades and honors from the state government on several occasions, commemorating events such as the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. His life was marked by selfless service, commitment to duty, and an unwavering sense of integrity.
