Sudhanshu Pant to Assume Office as Chief Secretary of Rajasthan Today

New Delhi: Following the formation of a new government in Rajasthan, the announcement of the new Chief Secretary has been made. Sudhanshu Pant, an IAS officer of the 1991 batch from the Rajasthan cadre, is set to become the next Chief Secretary of the state. Pant, originally from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is currently serving as the Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi. He has been relieved from this position to take up the role of Chief Secretary in Rajasthan.

Sudhanshu Pant will officially take charge as the Chief Secretary today. His elevation to the position surpasses several senior officers, and he will be the seventh-ranking officer in the Rajasthan cadre.

Pant will replace the outgoing Chief Secretary Usha Sharma, whose tenure is concluding on December 31, 2023. Although Sharma's official term ended on June 30, 2023, an extension of six months was granted by the Central Government on the recommendation of the Gehlot government ahead of the Assembly elections.

The selection of Pant for the role comes after considering several other names, including Sanjay Malhotra, V. Srinivas, and Rajeshwar Singh. Sudhanshu Pant is known for his experience in financial administration, making him a suitable candidate for the responsibility of improving Rajasthan's financial management.
