Fatehsagar Lake Cleanliness Marathon Promotes Voter Awareness
Udaipur: The District Election Officer, Arvind Posawal, stated that the upcoming Vidhan Sabha (Assembly) elections will be held on November 25. He urged all Udaipur citizens to utilize their voting rights and participate in strengthening democracy.
On Sunday morning, as part of the Voter Awareness Campaign, Mr. Posawal interacted with voters during a marathon organized by the Swachh Bharat Mission near Fatehsagar Lake. He emphasized that Udaipur had a relatively low voter turnout during the last elections. This time, the Election Commission has set a target of 85% voter turnout, and the cooperation of all citizens is expected to achieve this goal. He encouraged young people to cast their votes and motivate their families, friends, and relatives to do the same.
Prior to this, the marathon commenced near Kala Kiwad, where the District Election Officer inaugurated the event by waving a green flag. The marathon saw significant participation from NSS volunteers, Anganwadi workers, department officials, and employees. The youth and women participants encouraged the general public to vote through slogans and cheers.
The marathon transformed into a public gathering near the main Fatehsagar Lake, where Mr. Posawal boosted the morale of the winners. Punit Sharma, the Swachh Prakoshth in-charge, welcomed everyone and provided information about the sanitation activities. He also informed the audience that the election is scheduled for November 25 and will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM, with extended voting hours. Mr. Sharma explained that voters whose names are on the voter list but do not have a voter ID can still cast their votes using 12 other types of identification documents.
During the event, Vasudev Malavat, the Commissioner of Udaipur Municipal Corporation, Rajesh Joshi, the UDAI Secretary, Ajitkumar Jain, the District Sports Officer, Dr. Devilal Garg, the Swachh District Coordinator, and other officials were present.
