Udaipur: Dr. Pritam Kumar Mehta, a renowned geoscientist and the father of Dr. Vishwas Mehta, the Chief Information Commissioner of Kerala and former Chief Secretary, was paid homage today in Udaipur. Regional Commissioner Rajendra Bhatt, along with various members of society and different groups, offered floral tributes at a condolence meeting held in Udaipur. Dr. P.K. Mehta passed away recently in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
During the occasion, Dr. Vishwas Mehta emotionally acknowledged the presence of everyone and spoke about the struggles, journey, and accomplishments of his father and his three generations. Dr. Pritam Kumar Mehta originally hailed from Dungarpur in southern Rajasthan and went on to study in Punjab. He served as a professor and headed the Department of Geology at Chandigarh University and was associated with various other institutions as well. He was a distinguished scholar in his field and pursued further studies and teaching in Germany and England.
Dr. Vishwas Mehta, who is himself a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service, has also mentored several young individuals during his tenure as the Director of the Western Regional Cultural Centre in Udaipur. Dr. P.K. Mehta was also related to Dinesh Joshi, the elder son of former Chief Minister Haridev Joshi. The news of Dr. P.K. Mehta's demise has drawn condolences from across the country and abroad.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his wife visited Dr. Vishwas Mehta's residence in Thiruvananthapuram to offer their heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Dr. Mehta.
