Chief Secretary Usha Sharma inaugurated Sculpture Park

 Mumbai, Rajasthan Chief Secretary Usha Sharma inaugurated the Sculpture Park set up at Bikaner House in New Delhi on Sunday evening.  Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was to inaugurate this park but due to unavoidable reasons, he could not attend the event.

Inaugurating the Sculpture Park, Chief Secretary Usha Sharma said I am glad that the foundation stone of this sculpture park was laid during the India Art Fair and I had the privilege of inaugurating it.

She said that along with the inauguration of Sculpture Park at Bikaner House, the heart of the national capital, it is a unique initiative to start 'Bikaner House Dialogues' in association with eminent personalities on subjects related to art, literature, culture and heritage. With this, apart from being successful in raising the issues related to these subjects, it will also be possible to make a detailed evaluation.

 SMT Sharma said that while on one hand contemporary art is being displayed by young artists through such events, on the other hand, senior artists are getting an opportunity to recognize the unique architecture of India and stay connected with their roots through the Sculpture Park.

 Congratulating all the 'gallerists' and 'artists' and the entire team of Bikaner House participating in the Sculpture Park, Smt Sharma said that it is expected that according to the priority of the Rajasthan government, there will be no shortage in beautifying and enhancing the heritage of artists and officers.  We will also take new initiatives.

She said that this sculpture park has been made by the state government taking another step towards developing Bikaner House as a cultural hub in the capital.  Drenched in the traditional art culture of the state, Bikaner House today has a glimpse of modern and contemporary art and culture.

 On this occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Resident Commissioner of the state in Delhi, Shubhra Singh said that internationally renowned sculptors have participated in this sculpture park and contributed to making this park a success.

Resident Commissioner Dheeraj Srivastava said in the program that the initiative taken by 'India Art Fair' and Bikaner House is ensuring the participation of the young generation on a large scale in the field of art, as a result of which the future direction of art literature is also being determined. 

He said that this sculpture park will add Rajasthani art, culture and heritage to national and international fame. In its first edition, the artefacts and sculptures of renowned and emerging artists of the country and the world have been displayed in the park.  A first-of-its-kind sculpture park in the capital, it will provide a convenient venue for the best and emerging artists of the art world to showcase their artworks.

Srivastava said that this sculpture park of Bikaner House will prove to be a a milestone in giving a platform to modern and contemporary artwork.

In the Sculpture Park, “Monk” by renowned artists Akhil Chand Das, “Banaras Ghat” by Tapas Vishwas, and “The Trinity” by Satish Gujral, K.S.  Radhakrishnan's 'Air Bound Maya On The Move', Tutu Patnaik's 'Tree', Dhananjay Singh's 'Faces-2', Ram Kumar Manna's 'Ganesh', Neeraj Gupta's 'Between Heaven And Earth', Tapas Biswas' 'Three'  Girls', Seema Kohli's 'Saraswati' and Sudip Roy's '12.40 P.M.' and many other works of art are on display.

 On this occasion, Secretaries of various departments of the Government of India and ambassadors of many countries, famous artists and celebrities associated with the art world, along with officials of various departments of the Government of Rajasthan were also present.
