Tribute Program on the Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi: Shaheed Diwas at the Government Public Library, Kota

The death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed as Shaheed Diwas at the Government Public Library, Kota. On this occasion, the readers observed a two-minute silence. Following this, the counselor, Ramanivas Dhakad, addressed the readers and said, "Talking about history, the incident of January 30, 1948, is still etched in the memories of the nation. On this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in the premises of Birla House, New Delhi, after his regular multi-religious prayer meeting."

The program coordinator, Shashi Jain, Assistant Library Head, said, "Nathuram Godse, a member of the Hindu Mahasabha who opposed Gandhi's views on the partition of India, shot him three times, leading to his immediate death. It is said that Gandhi’s last words were 'Hey Ram.'"

On this occasion, researcher Madhusudan Chaudhary said, "A few days before his assassination, Gandhi had said, 'Do I have the nonviolence of the brave? My death will prove that. If someone kills me and I die with prayers for the murderer on my lips and the remembrance of God in my heart, only then will it be said that I had the nonviolence of the brave.'"
