DP World lights up Qutub Minar ahead of the DP World India Championship 2026

New Delhi: Global logistics leader DP World illuminated the Qutub Minar with a spectacular live projection mapping experience, setting the stage for the highly anticipated DP World India Championship 2026, which returns to the Delhi Golf Club from October 15–18. For the evening, Qutub Minar, a defining symbol of Delhi and one of India’s most celebrated monuments, became a spectacular canvas for the global game. The specially created visual experience opened with the colours of the Indian flag sweeping across its historic façade, before journeying through India’s culture, art and heritage. The monument then transformed into the greens of a golf course, as the story shifted from India’s rich heritage to the country’s growing place on the global golfing stage. Stars of the Championship including back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy, defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and Shane Lowry appeared across the monument alongside India’s Shubhankar Sharma and Anirban Lahiri, bringing together some of the biggest names in international and Indian golf against the backdrop of an extraordinary piece of Indian history. The projection also spotlighted the Race to DP World India Championship, the new competition providing 24 DP World PGTI players with a pathway into the Championship field. Bringing the DP World Tour and DP World PGTI journeys together on the Qutub Minar, the experience celebrated Indian talent earning the opportunity to compete alongside some of the world’s leading players. The projection culminated with the DP World India Championship’s Lotus Trophy before closing with an invitation to the nation: “India, it’s time to tee off.” Hemant Kumar Ruia, Country Manager Subcontinent (India), DP World, said: “The DP World India Championship reflects our commitment to strengthening India’s place on the global golfing stage, just as we work to connect India more closely with global trade. We wanted to bring that spirit of global connection to life in a way that is distinctly Indian. Illuminating the Qutub Minar, an enduring symbol of Delhi—with the colours, energy and personalities of the Championship create a powerful connection between India’s rich heritage and its growing sporting ambition. As the world’s best golfers join India’s leading players in Delhi, we are proud to create a platform that celebrates the country’s passion for golf, showcases Indian talent and creates opportunities for our players to compete alongside the very best in the world.” Now in its second edition, the DP World India Championship offers a prize fund of US$4 million, the largest ever for a DP World Tour event in India. Co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and DP World PGTI, the Championship forms part of the Back 9 phase of the Race to Dubai presented by DP World, bringing stars of the global game to Delhi at the business end of the season. Tommy Fleetwood, who won the inaugural edition in 2025, returns to defend his title. As title partner of the DP World Tour since 2022, DP World is bringing world-class golf to one of its most important markets, strengthening India’s sporting ecosystem and creating a pathway for homegrown talent to compete on the global stage.
